Still Right Here In My Heart by Pure Prairie League (song & Lyrics)

There's a silver moon in the midnight sky
And lovers are heart to heart
But love is a shadow
Lost in your eyes
And time has taken us apart
But it's so far away and so long ago
It's still so strong I want you to know

[Chorus:]
You're still right here in my heart
Where you've been right from the start
Still right here in my heart oh baby

There's a hollow sound in this empty room
Echoes in the dark
I wish I could wake and find you here
Give us another chance to start
But night after night day after day
I love you so much I still have to say

[Chorus]

Well I wonder what you're feelin
Do you ever feel the same
When you listen to your heart
Do you ever hear my name

[Chorus]

Capture the Moon (poem)

If I could capture the moon
I'd package it and send it to you
Fight through the scattered storms
To be there in your arms
I would, in a heart beat
There'd be nothing to stop me
But the miles that lay between
Seem to have a door locked to me
If only I could drive a car
I'd speed right to where ever you are
To sit beside you and watch you sleep
Oh if dreams could become reality
I'd skip along the highest cloud
Snap my fingers and be with you now
Yet I know I'll have to turn out the light
And sweetly wish you goodnight
Oh... But... If I could!

Here At My Side (poem)

Just when I think you're beginning to fade
You rush up on me like a tidal wave
I don't even have to try to think of you
Its something that I automatically seem to do
Sometimes I wonder if you're just a dream
Then I stare of these pictures of you and me
Keep praying for the moment I'll open my eyes
And you'll be curled up here at my side

In The Night (poem)

I can hear your voice echoing in the night
I close my eyes as we gently take flight
Your cold hard steel staking its claim
Burrowing its heat deep inside of me
Lifting me up like an angel sprouting wings
Its liquid heat flooding into my core
Fire burning up the darkness in my soul
Cool lips fluttering along my skin
Taking every ounce of air I breathe in
Your light flashing like a thousand suns
In the night our hearts beat as one

Memories of Him (poem)

These memories of him
Stick like the ebony night
Flowing out in the mist
Like little birds taking flight
From the trees to the stars

These memories of him
Cling like the dying sun
Folding up its final grin
Like a melody being sung
From the lips to the hearts

Things I Remember (poem)

From that jacket he wore
To the car he drove
From the dog that didn't like me
To the smile on his face
These are the things I remember

From him coming to my door
To the red blanket on his bed
The books in his room
From him laying beside me
To that sparkle in his eyes
These are the things I remember

From the songs he would play
To his eagerness to assist me
From his long brown hair
To the night he disappeared
These are the things I remember

One Night With You (poem)

They say love walks in when you least expect it
Its not something you go looking for
Love is not something you can force
I was not looking for you
You walked into my life
At a time I was not in the right frame of mind
For reasons it would take me a while to explain

From the moment you sat down at my side
To the night you stood in front of me
From the moment you said goodbye
To that night we locked eyes
Everything in my life began to change
I've never felt anything like that in my life
Honestly I can't recall ever feeling that alive

I have waited for nearly half of my life
For someone like you to come along
I've done shed my share of blood & tears
Life dealt me a bad hand from the start
I don't remember when I lost my heart

Maybe you had it all along
I just didn't realize it until after you were gone
I don't know if we are meant to be
Yet, I definitely would move heaven & earth
To be granted one night with you

Into My Dreams (poem)

Since that day you said goodbye
I sat down and began to write
Words just flow from my fingertips
And you seem to be at the center of it
I don't know what this all means
Somehow you've become important to me
I tell myself to forget about you
Yet, I seem to be unable to
Thoughts of you consume my mind
Taking majority of my time
I walk around in a constant daze
Everywhere I turn I see your face
I don't know what this all means
You walked out of my life and into my dreams

Daydream (poem)

I walk in the light of the day
Visions of you come out to play
I'm living in a fantasy
Images of you and me
Dancing around inside my head
A grin begins its widespread
Planting itself across my lips
People gawk as if I'd lost it
Yet, their honks seem not to phase me
As I'm too caught up in a daydream

The Only One (poem)

Throw pennies in the wishing-well
Light my candles and cast my spell
If only my heart could tap on your door
My secret wish I wouldn't have to store
Blissfully share the chambers of your bed
To put this heartache finally to rest
Its very hard for me to believe
We had met by pure coincidence
To throw away such a precious gift
Just seems so utterly tragic
Though the miles keep up wide apart
You are the only one who holds my heart

My Feet (poem)

I know if I walked out this door
Without a single doubt
My feet would guide me down the road
Up the hills, across the mountains
Over the running rivers to your door
My only map would be the memories
That reside inside my heart
Your face a sculpture of art
Painted inside my mind
Like the roads that continuously unwind
Though I haven't a clue
Just where to find you
My heart knows exactly where to go
It'd be a straight line
Through the forest, across the plains
A non-stop flight
Through the cities and towns
No physical map in my hands
No address, no physical bound to you
Yet, I know without a single doubt
If I walked out this door
My feet would walk straight to you

Out There Somewhere (poem)

I know you're out there somewhere
Greeting stairwells with your feet
Turning knobs in your grip
Lighting up rooms with your smile
Its so ironic, often strange
How much time can change
Yet, my feelings for you remain
Growing stronger with time
It all changed that moment
 you looked at me
Stood there in front of me
And our eyes met

Something Has To Give (poem)

He was right there in my reach
Everything I would ever need
Flashed before me that night
All at once his eyes met mine
How could I have been so blind
Is life playing a joke on me
Have I not been through enough
How could this possibly be wrong
I can never date anyone new
Thinking of him is all I ever do
I know I have to trust fate
But my patience is running thin
Something just has to give

Is It Real (poem)

Walking in a dream
How can I explain
Laughing to myself
Its hard to believe

Is it real now
So hard to believe
I can feel it
A change inside of me

Though I couldn't see
The love you gave to me
Now its changing all the time
Floating in and out of me

Is it real love
Grows like a tree
I can feel it
The seed you planted in me

Unfinished (poem)

There is a feeling still washing over me
It comes and goes like the evening breeze
Loud and clear as an echoed scream
All seem to say we were meant to be

Waves that dance along the shore
Lay as silent as the cobwebs at the door
The memories that stain my inner core
All seem to say fate's got more in store

Somewhere in the shadows of the moon
Somewhere in a dream I saw you
Inside the melody of a tune
The song seems to whisper you

Love's Lost Labyrinth (video poetry)

I thought since you've all been such excellent viewers...I'd treat you to a new project I'm working on. This is one of my older poems recorded, edited and mixed in an audio format. Then I used images to help bring the poem some life. So sit back, enjoy this tasty little treat and please let me know how you liked it.

Somewhere In The Night (poem)

Somewhere in the night
Stars are shinning bright
Here you come to mind
Happens all the time
Don't have any control
Heart has a mind of its own
It seems to really like you
I tried to find somebody new
But its hard to concentrate
I've had to cancel dates
Saw the moon glowing full
And all I could think of was you
So many stars up in the sky
Cross my fingers that you might
Be thinking of me
The way I think of you

A Piece of You (poem)

A piece of you has stained my soul.
I sure do love you so,
For reasons I will never know.
Never got to find out,
What your love is all about.
You left me high and dry,
Just moved on with your life,
While I'm stuck with you in my mind.
Sometimes I wish it was real.
Can't seem to stop the way I feel.
But this is getting old now.
Wish I could get to you somehow.

All A Dream (poem)

Was it all a dream
Were you real at all
Hard to conceive
Did you really exist
So much that we missed
I've got memories and photographs
But it only tells half
Of everything
Nothing is as it seems
Never said a word
Why does it hurt
When I think of you
I smile through the tears
Though its been over a year
Since we hung together
So much for happy ever after
Makes me just wonder
Was it all a dream
Were you real at all
Hard to conceive
Did you really exist

Meant To Be Friends (poems)

We were meant to be friends
Possibly even more
But whatever could have been
Was dropped at the door
Photographs they tell a story
One that still longs to be written
Sadly the pages sit empty
Awaiting words to scribble lines
Thunder roaring through locked eyes
Memories frozen in the dust
All that's left of us
The winds that blow through the trees
Seem to cry endlessly for you and me
Hearts they cry in the night
For the dying light
That flickers across the bridge
What became of me and him

My Friend (poem)

You were the light to my dark
The other half of my heart
We met by sheer coincidence
As if we were destined
I felt it everytime
We were together
That instant connection
That instant click
A perfect understanding
That didn't need words
I could tell you my deepest
Secrets with total confidence
You and I are suppose to be
Its the only thing that makes sense
You are still the light to my dark
The other half of my heart
Until we meet again
That's where you'll stay my friend

Had Enough (poem )

She's had enough
Of broken trust
All the tears she has cried
She's had enough
Of wasted time
While her life
Goes down the drain
No one's ever to blame

She's had enough
Of broken love
All the sleepless nights
She's had enough
Of asking why
While her life
Goes down the drain
No one's ever to blame

They toss her aside
Treat her like trash
Now she's walking out the door
And she's not coming back

She's had enough
Of broken friends
Tonight she'll bring it to an end
Out into the unknown
She's had enough
Of giving her time
While her life
Goes down the drain
No one's ever to blame
