My Reward (poem)

You are the inspiration in my life
You are the reason that I'm alive
All the pain and suffering I've endured
Don't you see darling you're my reward
A message from the heaven's above
Letting me know I too am loved
The first time I laid eyes on you
I was too blind to see the truth
A damaged girl at the end of the line
I prayed to the gods to send me a sign
I thought they had forsaken me
Until the night you stood in front of me
I pray to the gods to help me make sense of this
The mere thought of you sends me into a trance
My eyes glaze over and I just want to dance
I don't know what this all means, I believe you're the key
To unlocking the path fate has planned for me
Just you coming into my life has made an impact
I wouldn't know if we are destined to last
I've never really been one to believe in destiny
Yet, everything in me screams you were sent for me
Now I just wait for your return like a ship lost at sea
For what is life but a wasteland without love
So I just sit and wait for my turn to finally come
