Cherry Tree (poem)

I was sleeping beneath a cherry tree
When a pretty little bird sang a song for me
I woke up to the melody
Pouring from his lips like honey
He had his hair pulled up in a baseball cap
A twinkle in his eyes as he sat on my lap
Joyfully I had to sing along
Watching as he flew away into the dawn
I stared until he was out of sight
Remembering that look in his eyes
That pretty little bird who sat next to me
As I laid sleeping beneath a cherry tree
