You go home alone
No body calling on the phone
You pull out that letter
And again you consider
Taking that open invitation
How good it would feel
To get some heat between the sheets
That bed is getting too cold
It'd be nice to have someone to hold
So you fold it up, shove it in your pocket
Too afraid to admit you want it
Keeping telling yourself, we're only friends
And that could never happen
I could be there with you
And you know that its true
As easy as picking up the phone
But instead you go home alone
